The Third edition of the book Arbitration Law in Sri Lanka is now available at ICLP Arbitration Centre.

The ICLP launched the first edition in September 2006. This book is compiled by President’s Counsel K.Kanag Isvaran and the Secretary General of ICLP S.S. Wijeratne. Among the contributors to the first edition were Mr K.Kanag Isvaran, Mr S.S. Wijeratne, former Attorney General K.C. Kamalasabayson, P.C., Justice Saleem Marsoof PC, the Judge of the Supreme Court, Justice (Retired) Dr A.R.B. Amerasinghe, Retired High Court Judge Leslie Abeysekera, Financial Ombudsman Walter Laduwahetty, former State Counsel Uditha Egalahewa , Construction Arbitrator Eddi de Zylva.

The second edition was an expansion of the first book which includes articles of Mr Walter Laduwahetty, Mr Ananda Ranasinghe, Ms Niloo Pelpola and two important judgments.

The Third Edition is a further expansion with a new Article of Mr K.Kanag Isvaran and landmark judgements Light Weight Body ArmourLtd Vs Sri Lanka Army and Elgitread Lanka (private) Limited Vs Bino Tyres (Private) Limited.

Arbitration Procedure in Sri Lanka.

A simplified version of the Arbitration Act No 11of 1995 is available for sale at ICLP Arbitration Centre. The cost is Rs 100/-

The Secretary General of ICLP S.S. Wijeratne and Examiner of ICLP Diploma President’s Counsel Dr Harsha Cabral on the invitation of the Secretary, Ministry of Justice and Judicial Reforms of Sri Lanka under took to conduct two days training program on behalf of the Sri Lankan Government. The training program was held on 16 th and 17 th June 2006. Members of the Ministry of Justice and Judicial officers of Maldives were among the participants.

The International Conference in celebration of forty years to UNCITRAL Rules was held on 22 nd November 2006 at the Prince Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. The event was organised by the Kuala Lumpur Regional Arbitration Centre. The Chairman of the Board of Examiners of ICLP Justice Saleem Marsoof, PC addressed the opening session on “Judiciary and the Arbitral Process”
